Gun violence claims another life near Hazyview
Another Marite Patrol Unit member has been gunned down near Hazyview.
Gun violence in the Calcutta policing precinct has claimed the life of another victim.
A 37-year-old taxi driver, who was also a member of the Marite Patrol Unit – a community crime watch – was killed next to Letsatsi Tavern in Madras at around 16:00 this afternoon (November 12).

SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane confirmed that police responded to reports that a man had been shot.
“On arrival, police found a man lying facing up with multiple gunshot wounds and showing no signs of life,” she stated.
Police alerted emergency medical services and the victim was declared dead at the scene.
Multiple rifle cartridges were recovered at the scene and the motive for the killing is still unknown.
The police have appealed to the public for any information to help assist in their investigation.

This latest incident brings to four the number of gun-related deaths in the Calcutta policing precinct in less than two weeks.
Three other men, another taxi driver, a bishop and the patrol unit’s chairperson, Lawrence Thomas Masuku, were killed in the area in the past ten days.
Masuku’s funeral took place in the Jim Brown Section of Marite on Saturday, November 8.
Mkhuhlu Trust, which has earned itself the nickname of ‘The Land of Blood’ has seen more than 30 unsolved gun-related deaths in the past two years.
