Schoemanskloof truck accident: Critically injured driver airlifted to hospital after truck overturns
The cause of the accident is unknown at this stage but investigations are ongoing.
An Aeromed chopper landed on the N4 to transport a severely injured driver of an articulated truck after it overturned on Schoemanskloof this afternoon, Thursday, November 13.
According to Emer-G-Med’s Martin Jeffrey, a call was received about an articulated truck that overturned between Indabushe Lodge and Old Joe Monument at about 15:50.

Martin said that when Emer-G-Med arrived at the scene, a critically injured man was found lying on the roadside.

Martin said upon inspection of the man he was found to have sustained multiple fractures and extensive abrasions.
“The bystander reported that she had inserted a finger into a wound located on the anterior region of the right iliac crest to control bleeding,” Martin explained.
The truck was transporting bags of potatoes to Mozambique.

During the accident, the truck rolled in a way that it blocked most of the road with scattered potatoes.
The road was closed down, with motorists advised to use the Elands Valley road as an alternative.
