BURGERSFORT – Promise Malatji (19), aka DJ Deck-star, has taken Tubatse by storm – he is the talk of the town. His hit song “Fear in the darkness” is getting airplay on local radios and in taverns and at beach parties.
Only a few music pundits believed in the young lad when he first took to the decks during a bash hosted at Uhuru Africa resort. Some mumbled before hearing what this muso can do. But minutes after playing his first track, other Djs surrounded him in trying to get his music recipe. Some noted “the boy is good”, nodding their heads while others were seen whispering to each about his talent.
A few months after the bash, he started receiving numerous calls from people who wanted him to play at their gigs.
“I absolutely wowed the crowd, I know its tough to make it in this industry but my morale is high now. It’s always an honour seeing party people dance to your music. My only challenge is to keep up the standard, to make sure I don’t disappoint my fans in future. My track is a hit, there is no party without this track,” he told Steelburger/Lydenburg News.
Born at Maabocha village outside Burgersfort, Deck-Star used to be a lead vocalist at Thabane Primary School. He is also a devoted member of the Zion Christian Church (ZCC) where he sings in the church choir. He matriculated last year and is determined to make it in the music industry. He can be contacted on 061-002-0767.
