Ambitious go-getter soars on Barbertons’ airwaves

Since the beginning of April, Barberton Community Radio (BCR) station listeners have been hearing a new voice on air from 12:00 to 15:00.
It is none other than that of ambitious go-getter, Nothando Moilakhomu (22), who aims to take the station to great new heights.
She goes by the broadcasting name of Love Angel, and has become the popular voice on the airwaves on weekdays as a host of The Midday Buzz.
Joining BCR on April, she was completely new to radio. Asked what listeners could expect from her she said, “I love being behind the microphone or should I say, the microphone loves me. Growing while doing something you want to do, is every person’s wish. Besides broadcasting, I would love to see myself being one of the country’s most famous and successful female DJs”.
Love Angel said her show accommodated all age groups. “Midday Buzz is a magazine show that educates, informs and entertains. We touch on gossip issues, history-related matters and education features that help with career information. It accommodates everyone.”
Whether it is listeners or co-presenters, nicknames have been given to celebrities by all who know them. And there is, perhaps, no greater honour than being given a nickname that is known and spoken of worldwide.
But for Mailakhomu it is a different story. Asked where she got her broadcasting nickname of Love Angel, she said she gave it to herself. “I derive the nickname from my name Nothando (Zulu words literally meaning love). And we all know, there is no one in the world who is more full of love than the angel of love.” Catch her every weekday from 12:00 to 15:00 on BCR, on 104.1 FM.
