The Barberton Christian Forum is still on the go

Recently Barberton Times received many enquiries from the community as to where they can refer the homeless for assistance with food and clothing.

The Barberton Christian Forum (BCF) has not been in the news often this year. Recently Barberton Times received many enquiries from the community as to where they can refer the homeless for assistance with food and clothing.

This non-profit organisation which has been operating for the past seven years, is situated at one of the bungalows at the NG Kerk. Every Wednesday morning from 60 to 100 underprivileged people visit the forum. Here, they receive soup, bread and a food parcel to take home.

Barberton Mines donates food every month, the Methodist Church supplies soya and rice mix while another kind-hearted donor provides bread every week.

Babata Pumps and The Jock of the Bushveld Centre are some of BCF’s other sponsors. Apart from these, Pick n Pay collects clothes from time to time which it then donates to the forum. These are handed out to those in need every three months. The store also provides groceries on a regular basis. With these provisions, BCF supplies six charity groups which are also involved in community upliftment in and around Barberton. At least once a month, five to six local families also receive a box of groceries.

With the festive season just around the corner, the BCF appeals to the community to open their hearts. Clothes and non-perishable groceries will see many families through December and January and feed several children who would otherwise go hungry.

“We would like to thank all our sponsors and the community for your ongoing support. As a Christian organisation, we rely on the Lord for His favour and provision. Our motto is ‘Embracing our community to make a difference’, with Mark 12: 30, 31 as our goal,” said Jenny Meerholz of the BCF.

If anyone who would like to become involved, call Jenny on 061-410-7157 after 15:00 on weekdays.
