Tea for two under a fever tree

Tea treats will be served under the trees of the Skukuza Indigenous Plant Nursery by the SANParks Honorary Rangers every last Sunday of the month from 9:00 to 15:00.

Are you looking for a perfect place to have a cup of tea or coffee while the birds are singing overhead and you are sitting at a pretty table under an indigenous tree, smelling the sweet aroma of flowering shrubs?

Then it is time to visit the Skukuza Indigenous Plant Nursery on the last Sunday every month from 9:00 to 15:00. Dates: March 27, April 24, May 29, June 26.

The nursery is situated close to the Skukuza Camp between the Skukuza Staff village and the Golf Club. It is signposted from the main Paul Kruger-Skukuza camp road.

Here the SANparks Honorary Rangers with Alison Esterhuizen at the head will make sure that a wide variety of good old teatime favourites will be served in style on those last Sundays.

“We would love to see people enjoying the calm serenity of the nursery and support our effort to take hands with the team at the nursery,” said Alison.

The SANParks Honorary Rangers is an organization of people with a passion for nature and a dedication to support the South African National Parks. Members facilitate various activities through which the public can become involved in support of SANParks and enjoy the wonder of our natural heritage. These activities have been ongoing for more than 50 years.

Funds raised by the tea-garden will be used to keep the nursery going. Plants will also be for sale. The nursery has stock of over a hundred Kruger National Park plant species ranging from trees and shrubs to aloes and other interesting succulents. Included in this are the critically endangered Adenium swazicum (Swazi Lily). The nursery is also well known for the beautiful impala and kudu lilies, both of which are for sale here.
