Youth get a chance to star in a local movie

Locals recently had the opportunity to audition for a movie project by the Phaphama Youth Centre in kaMhlushwa and hope to see Nkomazi represented on TV soon.

KAMHLUSHWA – Locals had the opportunity to audition for Phaphama Youth Centre’s (PYC) movie project at KaMhlushwa Bantfwabetfu Crèche on March 4 and 22.

PYC is a non-profit organisation based in Buffelspruit, which hosts a variety of projects to help uplift and empower youth.

“We realised that people have lots of different talents and that with acting they needed help to fulfil their dreams. We look forward to shooting the movie in April or May, depending on the funds we have. We have written an educational movie which we hope to have broadcasted on TV,” said Lucky Maseko, the project manager.

The auditions gave aspiring actors a platform to fulfil their dreams.

“I came to the auditions with the hope that people will be able to see actors from Nkomazi on TV,” said Simangele Ngcani (27).

Nelisiwe Sibiya, a 28-year-old, saw the movie project as an opportunity for young people to be on TV and represent Nkomazi and the siSwati language.

The eldest member, Thembi Ngcane, encouraged parents to support young people in positive initiatives.

Maseko urged the Nkomazi youth to participate in PYC initiatives and to share their ideas for assisting others.

The group’s entire programme currently operates on a zero budget. Anyone who would like to assist can contact Maseko on 079-601-437 or phaphama.pyc@gmail.com.
