Riverside Mall and Hawks need help for Mandela Day
The donated items can be dropped off at the mall near Truworths by the Face of Riverside display, where a big pin would be provided from Friday until Monday evening.
MBOMBELA – Riverside Mall is partnering with the Hawks to assist Chakaza Primary School in Pienaar, where 100 children in need have been identified, for Mandela Day on Tuesday. Riverside Mall marketing coordinator, Elbi Dippenaar said the mall would serve as a drop-off point for the public if anyone would like to donate clothing, school shoes, or stationary, new or used.
Hawks spokesman, Capt Dineo Sekgotodi requested that used items be washed or cleaned, as they wanted the children to receive the items with dignity. The donated items can be dropped off at the mall near Truworths by the Face of Riverside display, where a big pin would be provided from Friday until Monday evening.

“The mall itself will donate 100 bags with items such as stationery, depending on what we can get sponsored by our tenants.
“Our 67 minutes will also be spent making up the packets,” said Dippenaar.
Mandela Day honours the legacy of Nelson Mandela and his values through volunteering and community service. It celebrates the belief that each individual has the power to transform the world and the ability to make an impact.
The Hawks identified the school shoes as their main concern, as many of the children were wearing shoes that were either falling apart, or not nearly the correct size.
“We would like to invite companies and the public alike to participate in this worthy initiative, either by donating or sponsoring specified items. They can be either new or used,” Sekgotodi said.
