UPDATE: KNP strike suspended
"Our members found that continuing with the action would result in too great losses for them."
SKUKUZA – A protected strike by Kruger National Park employees was called off on Wednesday, two weeks after it commenced on July 19. In their efforts for an increase of R26,23 per month, protesters lost a minimum of R270,35 per day.
Lowvelder previously reported that a wage dispute sparked the action, which was suspended on July 20 and resumed five days later.

Members of the Health and Other Service Personnel Trade Union of South Africa (Hospersa) demanded a nine per cent increase for its members.
SANParks offered a 6,01 per cent salary adjustment and a one per cent pay progression. Hospersa rejected the offer.
In other words, SANParks offered R7 023,66 per month and the union demanded R7 049,89.
During the strike a no-work, no-pay rule applied, which resulted in great financial losses for those who participated.
“Our members found that continuing with the action would result in too great losses for them. The issues will be addressed by means of future consultation,” said Hospersa’s public-relations officer, Kevin Halama.
