Man beaten and dumped on roadside

A helpless man was found after mysteriously being dumped from a Quantum minibus on the R40 road next to Jathira filling station in broad daylight on Monday morning.

According to eyewitnesses two drivers, each driving minibuses, were involved.

The two unknown drivers pulled the man from one of the vehicles, allegedly first beating him and then dropping him on the road before speeding off.

The police were called to the scene. An ambulance, which took more than an hour to arrive, was also called by witnesses to the incident. While the paramedics were preparing to take him to hospital, a woman who was on board another Quantum from Barberton to Mbombela, also arrived on the scene. She claimed that she knew him and identified him as a taxi driver from Mbombela. She volunteered to accompany him to
the hospital.

No media release about the incident had been issued by the police at the time of going to press.
