Four robbers flee from filing station with more than R5 000 in cash

Four men robbed the Puma Filling Station at Jathira in the early hours of last Wednesday.

According to Leon Carelse, Mbombela’s operational manager for Nkomazi, the robbers fled with R5 200 in cash.

He said they first attempted to bomb an ATM situated in the shop. They failed to open it and proceeded to the till.

“The four men stormed the shop at around 03:20 and locked up the six employees, who were on duty at the time, in the kitchen. The traumatised staff pressed the panic button.
But by the time Hi-Tech Barberton and the police arrived at the scene, the men had fled,” said Carelse.
