Rhodesians and friends invited to a special reunion
Rhodesians will be able to enjoy traditional foods, music, documentaries and reminisce about the old days during a special get-together at the Tin Shack Restaurant on September 2.

MARLOTH PARK – The Rhodesian Reunion is organised by Dalwyn MacDonald, who hopes to bring Rhodesians from the area together and reunite old friends and acquaintances.
He has come across more and more Rhodesians. “They have reunions in Johannesburg and Natal but there hasn’t been any in Mpumalanga that I’m aware of,” he explained. “I’ve had interest from all over the country and even neighbouring countries, and am expecting quite a crowd.”
The soundtrack to the event will be ’70s hits and music from Rhodesian artists including John Edmund, Clem Tholet, Mike Westcott and Wrex Tarr.
A large-screen television will be play videos of army forces, Rhodesia, Operation Noah and tourist movies from the ‘70s.
A traditional lunch with dishes like sadza and sishebu will be served, but guests will also be able to buy braai packs and socialise around the fire. Beer, wine and spirits will be available at the bar.
The event will start at 11:00 and conclude by 17:00, to comply with noise-disturbance regulations.
MacDonald will also host a Rhodesian movie night at the Tin Shack on September 8 from 18:00. This will feature a documentary explaining what happened to Rhodesia and how it become Zimbabwe.
Bookings are essential and the ticket price will include a meal.
MacDonald hopes to make the movie night a regular event, as he has stacks of DVDs concerning Rhodesia and its history.
