Protesters break gates at FGTM

The protesters threw stones at security officers and also prevented visitors from entering the municipality premises.

BURGERSFORT- Angry community members from Riba Cross broke the FGTM gates as they demanded a meeting with the municipality’s management. The residents demanded better services in their area; amongst their demands was also better road that leads to Ga Riba village. They also insisted that their homes have to be electrified. The protesters threw stones at security officers and also prevented visitors from entering the municipality premises.

Burgersfort Police were called to calm the situation. According to the spokesperson of the Burgersfort SAPS some of the protesters were arrested. Maluleke did not reveal how many protesters were apprehended.  The paper will provide developments on this story.
