Run/Walk for life
Run/Walk For Life is well-known countrywide, and now the community of Lydenburg has the opportunity to join in on the adventure to become fitter and healthier.
Its mission statement says it all:”We believe in respect, honesty and integrity. We are committed to continual improvement in everything that we do. We believe in giving our members an exceptional experience.
We are passionate about what we do and have fun doing it.”
Health enthusiasts gathered at Hoërskool Lydenburg on Saturday morning where they were given a brief overview of the programme and what it entails.
There was ample chance for questions to be asked and concerns to be raised. Many entry forms were filled in, and the expectations were high for the first official training session on Monday.
Each member underwent a fitness test to determine what their fitness level is. Once that was determined, the workout began.
Members chose to walk, run or do both. Everything is under the watchful eye of Kevin Ruthven, ambassador for Run/Walk For Life in Lydenburg. He is the proud owner of the franchise.
“I saw the need in the town for people who will benefit from this programme, took a leap of faith and started with the proceedings,” said Ruthven.
Anyone who wishes to join the programme can sign up at the high school’s cricket field at 17:15 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
