Cancer: Early detection can save your life
CANSA Lowveld has provided some warning signs you should look out for to help early detection of breast, cervical and prostate cancer.

The big C is something that is still on everybody’s lips. According to CANSA this disease kills more people every year than Aids, tuberculosis and malaria combined. However, early detection can possibly save your life.

The Lowveld branch of CANSA has given tips on how to spot cervical, breast or prostate cancer. Listed below are some of the signs you should look out for:
WOMEN:
- Check for lumps in your breasts, nipple discharge, size change on the other breast or a sore that does not heal.
- Ongoing pain on your womb or surrounding area or a lump can indicate cervical cancer.
- Too much discharge which has changed in colour or non-stop vaginal bleeding can also indicate cervical cancer.
- Pain during intercourse is also something to look out for.

MEN:
- Difficulty urinating or starting or stopping the flow of urine, weak flow of urine, pain or burning sensations during urination can be a strong indication.
- A need to urinate often, especially at night, difficulty getting or maintaining an erection or blood in urine or semen can also be a warning sign.
- Pain in lower back, hips or upper thighs should also be looked out for.
