Minister Mkhize to visit Mpumalanga in support of interventions in distressed municipalities

The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), Dr Zweli Mkhize, will visit Mpumalanga Province as part of his national programme to support distressed and dysfunctional municipalities.

The Minister will meet the provincial leadership led by the Premier, Ms Refilwe Mtshweni, MEC Speedy Mashilo and Eric Kholwane responsible for CoGTA, Local Government and Traditional Affairs and Finance, Economic Development and Tourism respectively. The Minister will also meet with the mayors of distressed and dysfunctional municipalities in Mpumalanga.

The Programme of 30 August 2018:

  • 08:30:        Minister visits Kanyamazane – Damaged Houses project.
  • 11:00:        Political discussions on the state of municipalities in the            province.
  • 13:00:        Report on the state of municipalities in the province in general and distressed municipalities in particular.
  • 15:00:        Meeting with Executive Committee of Provincial House of Traditional Leaders.

Members of the media will be able to engage the leadership in between the activities in the programme.
