Rotarians give guidance at careers day

During the careers day several professionals from all over the Lowveld set up kiosks in classrooms.

Rotary White River recently hosted its fourth careers day at Fundinjobo High School near KaBokweni.

A Rotary Interact Club was established at the school some time ago and is overseen by Judy Pott.

The club is funded by the Kona Sunrise Rotary Club in Hawaii.

It also grants educational support bursaries of $1 000 to children of the school and has recently sponsored a camp for club members.

During the careers day several professionals from all over the Lowveld set up kiosks in classrooms. Pupils could visit according to their interests for one-on-one discussions, but could also attend group talks by some.

Experts from health-care, public services, engineering and the construction sector, media and creative arts, hospitality, tourism, agriculture, business, environment and conservation were present.

Talks were given on how to choose a career, how to approach an interview, apply for tertiary study and to make choices after school, as well as on entrepreneurship were given.
