This year Uplands’ valediction ceremony started with the opening of the matric art exhibition.
Matric pupils and parents enjoyed breakfast with the staff, admired the beautiful work on display and fondly remembered their time at Uplands.
This was followed by valediction where the heads and deputies of this year shared a few special moments.
Paul Hume, dux pupil for 2018 shared a motivational message and reminded all that you can achieve anything if you set goals and work hard.
At the end of the assembly, Alex Gitlin gave the valediction charge to the class of 2018 where they rang the bell to mark the passing of time, their high school career and to symbolise the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.
“My charge to you is that you live for people, that you live with purpose, and that you give your life your very best,” Gitlin said and wished all the matrics good luck with their final exams.
