Tourists made aware of roadside corruption

Vehicles were stopped and drivers were handed a pack that included a map, a visitor's guide and a roadside anti-corruption card.

Bushbuckridge Local Tourism Organisation, supported by Bushbuckridge Local Municipality, kicked off its tourism awareness and anti-roadside corruption campaign near Acornhoek on April 15.

Assisted by municipal traffic officers, councillors, municipal officials and tourism monitors, vehicles were stopped and drivers were handed a pack that included Kruger Lowveld’s Z-Card map, a visitor’s guide and a roadside anti-corruption card.

The campaign was scheduled to continue until April 17 in various locations within the Bushbuckridge municipal area, including along the R536 between Hazyview and Paul Kruger Gate.

It is believed that campaigns such as these have assisted in significantly in reducing the reported incidents of roadside corruption by traffic officers, particularly along the R40 through Bushbuckridge.
