A pledge is made to care for the children

About 90 children are living at this squatter camp and that they have no easy access to a clinic or medical treatment.

Pediatric Care Africa (PCA), an organisation established by Dr André Hattingh which cares for the plight of children, recently visited the Magalela squatter camp between White River and Hazyview.

This was the first visit, to introduce the NGO to them and to ascertain firsthand what their needs were, especially the children residing there, and to discuss these issues in greater detail. PCA found that there were about 90 children living at this squatter camp and that they have no easy access to a clinic or medical treatment.

The nearest clinic is in White River. “We will continue to assist this community with their children’s medical and dietary needs as and when possible,” Hattingh declared.

During the visit they delivered approximately 1 200 kilograms of food, as well as clothing, to the residents. Most of the clothing they had received was from a generous donation PCA received from Katoen in turn.
