Laughter and drinks, a Marlins speciality
Marlin Pub & Grill is off the beaten track, behind the old Nelspruit show grounds, but not too far off to be inaccessible to Mbombelans who enjoy a hearty meal over a drink or two.

Its location makes Marlin Pub & Grill the ideal venue for a visit between friends and family over a welcoming ambience and friendly atmosphere. The establishment features as one of the participating pubs in this year’s The Great Nelspruit Post Pub Crawl, which takes place on September 28, and has already become a firm favourite with locals since opening its doors in 2011. Hosts and restaurateurs Chris and Carmen Naudé take a hands-on approach to daily management and have introduced specials, good music, good vibes and great value for money.
The relaxed atmosphere is what sets Marlins apart and draws locals for a down-to-earth pub experience which goes down well with patrons. “People start here for a hearty breakfast, have a couple of drinks and good laughs with their friends and usually only leave after they have enjoyed supper,” said the couple. Marlins is also an avid supporter in fund-raising for two charities, CANSA and Pro Life, which lie close to the couple’s hearts. “One of the most important traits we have is the relationship that we have built with our suppliers, allowing us to be ahead of the game when new products are about to be launched.”
What sets Marlins apart is that it also offers outside catering, hosts special events and live music on Thursdays and is also the home of the Nelspruit District Angling Club. Chris and Carmen have also developed their own unique cure for a hangover following the legendary pub crawl. “We suggest an “Underberg”, followed by a greasy breakfast. Then, just hit another double Richelieu and Coke, followed by another one, or two, or three.”
