Local park remains a problem

Some members of the public have parties with loud music and leave the area littered with empty bottles and papers.

Residents have again raised their concern over the poor state of a children’s park in Leadwood Street in West Acres.

Mbombela Local Municipality spokesman, Joseph Ngala, said the municipality was still doing maintenance. Ngala said the litter removal was done on a weekly basis.

 

“The park is used very often by the surrounding residents and public in general, thus the litter will be of concern to the public, as the litter is generated daily and especially weekends.”

Ngala added that noise can be reported to the Ehlanzeni District Municipality.

“The other maintenance may be reported to the Parks Department,” he said (on

Ngala said the municipal workers responsible for cleaning has various responsibilities at the park.
“The other maintenance is the grass cutting, tree pruning, litter collection, emptying dustbins, the replacement of poles when removed by the public, and upkeep of the playing equipment,” he concluded.
