N4 crash claims one life, leaves three seriously injured

A number of emergency services were on the scene to assist the victims and the Off-Road Rescue Unit lifted the injured passengers from the embankment with its rescue ropes.

Two vehicles travelling on the N4 towards Mbombela yesterday afternoon were involved in a crash which claimed the life of one driver.

According to Martin Jeffrey of Emer-G-Med, the collision happened between Montrose and the Sudwala Caves turn-off between 16:45 and 17:00.

“The accident involved a Nissan NP 200 bakkie and a Hino truck with Mozambican registration plates. From what we were able to ascertain, the bakkie driver lost control and the truck driver swerved to avoid colliding with it,” he said.
