Head-on collision on R40 claims eight lives
Two sedans were involved, each transporting four people.
According to a media alert released late last night by the Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, the accident occurred on July 4 at around 21:00.
Two sedans collided head-on on the R40 between Dwarsloop and Violetbank in Bushbuckridge.
The Jaws of Life had to be used in order to remove the bodies of the seven people who died on scene.
One person was critically injured, but died while being transported to hospital.

The deceased include the drivers of both vehicles. Each vehicle had four occupants including the drivers.
The cause of the crash is yet to be established and an investigation is underway.
