Covid-19: Mpumalanga’s active cases stand at 714

South Africa has recorded 702 131 confirmed infections, according to an announcement by the minister of health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, on Saturday, October 17. A total of 28 642 of those cases have been reported in Mpumalanga.

According to data released by the Mpumalanga Department of Health, there have been 27 338 recoveries and 590 deaths to date.

The number of positive cases in the province can be broken down as follows:

Ehlanzeni District

• Bushbuckridge: 1 017 cases, 918 recoveries and 18 deaths
• City of Mbombela: 5 398 cases, 5 062 recoveries and 57 deaths
• Nkomazi: 2 170 cases, 2 090 recoveries and 36 deaths
• Thaba Chweu: 459 cases and 433 recoveries and 13 deaths.

Gert Sibande District

• Chief Albert Luthuli: 777 cases, 737 recoveries and 19 deaths
• Dipaliseng: 342 cases and 326 recoveries and 15 deaths
• Dr Pixely Ka Isaka Seme: 959 cases, 929 recoveries and 18 deaths
• Govan Mbeki: 3 715 cases, 3 590 recoveries and 60 deaths
• Lekwa: 1 159 cases, 1 087 recoveries and 59 deaths
• Mkhondo: 563 cases, 528 recoveries and 29 deaths
• Msukaligwa: 1 676 cases, 1 595 recoveries and 46 deaths.

Nkangala District

• Dr JS Moroka: 401 cases, 389 recoveries and nine deaths
• eMakhazeni: 470 cases and 444 recoveries and 17 deaths
• eMalahleni: 5 597 cases, 5 590 recoveries and 60 deaths
• Steve Tshwete: 2 826 cases, 2 706 recoveries and 63 deaths
• Thembisile Hani: 651 cases, 626 recoveries and 20 deaths
• Victor Khanye: 462 cases and 447 recoveries and 10 deaths.
