Alleged rhino poachers granted bail

The three Kruger National Park employees who were arrested for possession of rhino horns were granted bail in the Bushbuckridge Magistrate's Court last Thursday.

Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Col Donald Mdluli said the trio were granted bail of R5 000 each and are due to appear in court again on December 10.

The employees, two men and a woman, had been caught with the horns on October 20 and were arrested in an intelligence-driven operation by SANParks, SAPS Crime Intelligence Unit, Sabi Sands and the Skukuza Stock Theft Unit.

Two of them had been working as security guards while the third was part of the technical services unit.

The trio had been driving a white BMW sedan near Calcutta just outside Hazyview when the arrests were made. Mdluli said no other arrests have been made.
