ATTI College cooks up an egg-cellent meal

The Heidel Eggs Corporate Cook-off at the Bagdad Centre saw first-time participants ATTI College take home first prize after wowing the judges with a brilliantly prepared meal, including a near-perfect poached egg.

The cook-off on Saturday included 12 local business spending two hours preparing a special dish for the judges.The judges included GT Lundie, chef/owner of Le Petit Zest Bistro Cafe, Michelle Higgo, general manager of Southern Sun and Stayeasy Emnotweni,

Koos Vermeulen, owner of Kwanza Catering and Events, Nisha MacDougall,general manager of Mercure Nelspruit,Lewies Dippenaar, owner of Laeveld Koffie and owner/head chef Die Windpomp, and Mmathabo Mokoena, education and training practitioner in hospitality – MRTT (Hospitality &Tourism Academy).

Robin Jansma of Radio Laeveld 100.5fm was also at the event, providing some comic-relief and music for the competitors, onlookers and
judges alike.

ATTI College’s Marie Fourie said it was their first time taking part in the challenge, but they would “definitely be back next year”. “It has been so
awesome and we have all had so much fun,” said Fourie.

“Most of the team members don’t really cook and we got the idea for our dish from Master Chef Australia.”

ATTI College was ecstatic when it won, finding it difficult to contain its surprise and joy at the announcement
