Founder’s Day outdoors a first for Uplands

Uplands hosted its annual Founder’s Day outdoors for the first time in 23 years.

The Founder’s Evening, and specifically the candle lighting ceremony, was initiated in 1998 and has since become a valued tradition of the college.

“Due to Covid regulations, this year’s event was celebrated among pupils and staff only,” Themba Kgopane, marketing director of Uplands, said.

The event took place on May 13 and was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended, and was lauded as a resounding success.

“Pupils and staff were dazzled by a wonderful performance of cultural talent at our school,” Kgopane said.
