Local DA gathers for party’s virtual rally
Lowveld DA members watched the party's virtual "Time for Change" Rally together at the Lowveld Country Club on May 22.

The Lowveld watch party was one of hundreds held across the country for the rally, one of the largest virtual ones ever held in South Africa.
Current ward councillors and new members who will run in the upcoming municipal election, including Thea Rix, joined the live stream. Despite some initial technical difficulties, the streaming went smoothly.
Other DA officials in Mpumalanga watched the rally from other locations. MPL Trudie Grové-Morgan watched it in a White River ward councillor’s house, while leader of the party in the province, Jane Sithole, watched it with other DA members in eMalahleni.

The rally was a major part of the party’s campaign for the upcoming local elections that will take place on October 27. Though some in the political arena have said the election should be postponed, the DA has maintained that the date is fair.
Speaking live from Nelson Mandela Bay, party leader John Steenhuizen said the party is marching towards October 27.
