Mbombela’s police and security companies ‘ready’ amid speculation of nationwide unrest
Members of the public are urged not to share any unverified information with others.

The Nelspruit CPF has assured residents that the police and all private security companies are “ready for any eventuality” following wide speculation of more national unrest expected to erupt on Monday August 23.
The CPF chairperson, John Meintjes, said the forum and the police have, however, deemed information surrounding the unrest as a national threat and not a local one.
“We want to plead with our community not to add to the uncertainty by accepting and/or redistributing unverified rumours,” said Meintjes.
He urged people to follow the Nelspruit CPF group or that of their local security companies for factual reports of what is happening in Mbombela.
He added that the police, all private security companies and civilian organisations have been part of briefings and planning sessions throughout the week following news of the possible unrest. The meetings are ongoing.
“Let us be vigilant, let us be the eyes and ears of our law enforcement agencies. Report any unusual activities as quickly and accurately as possible. Most importantly, let us remain calm and be part of the solution and not the problem,” said Meintjes
