The existing garden will be revamped utilising the services of various professionals within the White River community on a budget of R30 000.

Hospice White River has joined hands with Back-a-Buddy and the Hospice and Palliative Care Association to realise a healing vision that will extend its already impressive care portfolio to include a tranquillity garden.

The existing garden will be revamped utilising the services of various professionals within the White River community on a budget of R30 000.

Hospice White River’s manager, Terran Gericke, said in a statement, “We’re assisting people and their loved ones during some of the most challenging and stressful times of their lives.

“Part of what we offer is the emotional and spiritual support that everyone needs during these times. We have an abundant garden area at the back of our base property and we’re going to use that to create an inviting, functional space where people can meet, gather, or simply seek refuge from the strain associated with illness and loss.”

The area will be undercover to ensure that it can be used regardless of the weather.

To make this project financially sustainable, the space will also be used as a venue to hold small, open-air events for fundraising, or to otherwise augment Hospice White River’s care services.
