Mbombela has stage 4 load-shedding implemented

Eskom has announced that stage 4 load-shedding has been implemented with no exemptions.
It started at 12:00 and will continue until 05:00 on Friday October 29.

Thereafter, Eskom will implement stage 2 load-shedding until 05:00 on Saturday October 30.

A statement by Eskom said stage 4 load-shedding had been implemented due to a further shortage of generation capacity.
“Over the past 24 hours, a unit each at Medupi, Kusile and Matla power stations tripped, while a unit each at Lethabo and Arnot power stations were forced to shut down.

“This constrained the power system further, requiring extensive use of emergency reserves, and therefore hampering the recovery of these reserves. Some generating units have returned to service and we anticipate another two units to return to service during the day.”

Eskom added that its Koeberg Unit 1 is expected to return to service today (October 27) and will begin ramping up to full output within 48 hours.

“Total breakdowns currently amount to 14 957MW while planned maintenance is 5 301MW of capacity. We remind customers that load-shedding is implemented as a last resort to maintain the stability of the power system regardless of the stage of load-shedding. The implementation of stage 4 load-shedding is therefore no cause for alarm, as the power system remains to be effectively controlled.

“Eskom would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused by the implementation of load-shedding, and requests the public to reduce the usage of electricity in order to help us through the constraints.”

Delta Block 10 schedule:
• Wednesday October 27: 15:00 to 17:30 and again between 23:00 and 01:30.
• Thursday October 28: 07:00 to 09:30, 15:00 to 17:30 and 23:00 to 01:30.
• Friday October 30: 05:00 to 07:30, 13:00 to 15:30 and again between 21:00 to 23:30.

Rocky Drift Block 3 schedule:
• Wednesday October 27: 17:00 to 19:30.
• Thursday October 28: 01:00 to 03:30, 09:00 to 11:30 and again between 17:00 to 19:30.
• Friday October 30: 07:00 to 09:30, 15:00 to 17:30 and again 23:00 to 01:30.

West Acres Block 14 schedule:
• Wednesday October 27: 15:00 to 17:30 and again between 23:00 and 01:30.
• Thursday October 28: 07:00 to 09:30, 15:00 to 17:30 and then between 23:00 to 01:30.
• Friday, October 30: 05:00 to 07:30, 13:00 to 15:30 and again between 21:00 to 23:30.

Riverside Industrial, Elaweni schedule
• Wednesday October 27: 13:00 to 15:30 and 21:00 to 23:30.
