Harps and piano create magical music for enchanted audience

Three Girls Three Harps and a Piano performed at Penryn College on Friday night, October 29.

In an absolutely exquisite performance by Three Girls Three Harps and a Piano, the musicians completely blew their audience away during their show at Penryn College on Friday night, October 29.

Headed by the extremely talented harpist, Theresa Prinsloo, who has been a music teacher for 50 years, the performance included six harpists playing their instruments on stage at the same time.

Speaking about the show, Prinsloo said the evening was “a dream come true” for her, especially having the six harps on stage all at once.

“The concert was also a showcase for Alayna Kuzel and Karla Brits to show off their talent and hard work,” said Prinsloo.

“Alayna recently passed the grade eight piano exam with distinction from the Trinity College London and Karla is preparing for hers soon. They have both won numerous awards and medals on provincial and national levels at eisteddfods and various other competitions,” she said.

“They managed to perform on a very professional level, although still in high school, with standing ovations from the appreciative audience. They also showed off their amazing ability and talent, excelling both in piano and harp. This concert will be marked as one of the best classical concerts ever presented in Mbombela, according to the remarks and opinions of the audience,” said Prinsloo.

Concert-goer Rollen Wallace said he had never experienced a show such as the performance put on by Prinsloo and her students.

“It was fantastic, it was beautiful and completely brilliant,” he said. Another audience member, Heila Jooste, said the music produced by the harpists and piano players was pure magic.

“It has been a wonderful show. All the performers are extremely talented and skilled. It has been an unbelievable performance to watch,” she said.
