Golf day’s success goes a long way

With 112 golfers playing, the teams pulled out all the stops and produced exciting golf at Pediatric Care Africa’s (PCA) charity golf day about a week ago.

A late afternoon thunderstorm and lightning made everyone scurry for cover and safety. Twenty minutes later, the players that still had to finish were back on the course rounding off their game.

Cristiano Leoni, only 11 years old and the youngest player, gave some of the “older” hands a run for their money as this young man plays golf like a pro. He was also the PCA mascot for the day.

The main sponsor, the Lowveld Motors group of Audi & Volkswagen dealerships, namely Audi Centre Mbombela, Volkswagen Highlands, Palm Motors, and Alan Hudson Motors had a big role in our PCA Charity Golf Day and displayed some of their newest vehicles on the golf course for the day.

Lee Melman, the organiser of the event, said, “We made sure our golfers would not go hungry and Trinchados kept everyone well fed with a delicious prego for lunch and Portuguese chicken for dinner.”

After dinner and once everyone had soothed their thirsts appropriately, the prize-giving took place with some great prizes ranging from seven days’ accommodation at a beautiful lodge to Rooikat Liquor hampers and many more.

Finally, there was the main fundraising event when there was a number of exciting items on auction.

PCA thanked everyone for their help with the day, and all the golf players who came out in force to support them and therewith the children they serve and assist.

“Every single one of you is a hero to us, thank you very much.”
