Alleged rhino horn possession case postponed to 2023

AB Steyn and Dawie Groenewald were arrested in the Riverside area of Mbombela on June 21 of last year.

The setting of the trial date for the alleged rhino horn possession case against Schalk Abraham Steyn and Dawie Groenewald has been postponed to next year.

Steyn, known to Lowvelders as AB Steyn, and Groenewald, who is a Limpopo game farmer, appeared in the Nelspruit Regional Court Thursday December 1.

The duo were arrested in June last year when they were allegedly found in possession of 19 rhino horns at a premises in Riverside in Mbombela.

They were released on R50 000 bail each shortly after their arrest.

It was expected that the date for the trial of Steyn and Groenewald would be set during their appearance on December 1, however, the matter was postponed to January 12.
