The Ultimate Kasi Experience in Mbombela a resounding success

The event was all about sharing a typical South African cultural experience in comfort with food, music and local art.

Kasi flavour was brought to the city with some local traditional food and live music at the Urban House Bistro on Saturday.
The event was organised by the Ultimate Kasi Experience, in collaboration with Innibos. The organiser, Devine Mlambo, said the turnout beyond expectations. “It was a busy weekend with lots of events in Mbombela, so we did not expect lot of people, but we were delighted to see people attending in numbers.”

He said they have revived good old Kasi traditions and created an opportunity to share a typical South African cultural experience in comfort with food, music and local art. People from various cultures came together and were served traditional fare, such as chicken feet (mahotwane), chicken gizzards (tingingila), “road runners” (kwere-kwere) and morogo.

The platform created business opportunities for stall owners. “Our stalls also made some sales. Some indicated that they saw an opportunity for expansion after some people took their contact details and contacted them.

Straat Meisie, the clothing brand on show, is even considering designing for males now after much interest from the Kasi Experience attendees,” he said.
The crowd was entertained by Mary Jane, SA Idols participant Dudlu KaDlamini, Gugu Pash, who is well known for her Afro-pop, hip-hopper Frisco Freezy, DJ Nathi and Bongeka.
