Blood services benefit from Mbombela’s generous donors

The Mbombela branch managed to collect 2 308 units as more young people came on board to donate.

July has been a good month for the South African National Blood Services (SANBS) in the city, as it collected more than 2 000 desperately needed units.

According to the donor relations practitioner in Mbombela, Palesa Mazibuko, who profusely thanked all the donors, the agency still needs more as the holiday season is approaching.

“We managed to so far collect 2 308 units as more young people came on board. This shows that people from the Lowveld understand the need of donating blood to save lives. We would like to thank all who took their time to donate blood at our stands across the city,” she said.

The SANBS had kiosks operating at various schools, hospitals, businesses, malls and shopping centres around Mbombela. “Going to various places has really assisted us a lot. We depend a lot on posters, flyers, stakeholders and word of mouth. I would advise people to come and donate, as it takes 15 to 20 minutes to save three lives,” Mazibuko said.
