After also being diagnosed with cerebral palsy in 2021, Ayden van Niekerk's bravery inspired many.

Ayden van Niekerk passed away on Monday 13 at approximately 20:20 after his mother, Estelle Nortjé, witnessed his oxygen machine wasn’t creating enough oxygen for him.

Despite being rushed to the Platinum Health Clinic at The Heads shopping complex in Lydenburg, he passed away.
