Silulumanzi on-site at Mbombela burst link line pipe

A burst Silulumanzi link line pipe caused a massive cascade of water to spray into the air on the R40 near Prime Corner.

A burst water link line pipe on the R40 near Prime Corner is in the process of being investigated and repaired this evening, November 30.

The burst pipe had resulted in a cascade of water to jet into the air and cover the R40 earlier this evening, causing low visibility for motorists travelling on that stretch of road.

Silulumanzi’s Richmond Jele said preliminary assessments indicated there is possible damage to the air valve on the 200m link line. He said it supplies water to the surrounding neighbourhood and industrial area.

Jele said Silulumanzi’s technical team had closed the supply soon after arriving at the site earlier this evening to isolate the issue, conduct a thorough investigation and initiate repairs.

An estimate on the repair time was not given by the time of publishing.
