Penreach honours teachers for hard work and passion in Mpumalanga
Talented teachers and community individuals received certificates and trophies in celebration of their dedication in 2023.
The Teacher and School of the Year Awards were the highlights of the Penreach Annual Awards on November 25 as community uplifters in the education sector, and those passionate about children, witnessed yet another spectacular show.
The awards, which saw individuals from around Mpumalanga fill the Paul Harris Exhibition Hall at Penryn College, were aimed at celebrating the talented teachers who dedicated themselves this year.
Andrew Mhlongo of Thanda Primary School scooped the Teacher of the Year Award, while Enzani Primary School was named the School of
the Year.
Penreach’s COO, Susanna Oosthuizen, said the awards are Penreach’s way to say thank you to the teachers who take the extra step in education and uplift their communities.

With the theme ‘The Gift of Penreach’, these exceptional teachers continued to strive for educational excellence for all pupils despite difficult conditions.
Future Now Kidz Academy won ECD Centre of the Year, Athalia Ngubane was the ECD Practitioner of the Year, Lissa Gumede was the Toy Library Volunteer of the Year and Carol Ngwenya was the Reading Camp Volunteer of the Year.

Live entertainment was provided by the Penreach Reading Camp’s dance group, Penryn College’s own Sinhle Mona and Simukhonze Mdluli, as well as a mass collaboration between the Penryn College’s Marimba Band and Vocal Group and the Boschrand Primary School’s Prestige Marimba Band and Choir.
