Three tenants remain at the Village Shopping Centre
The most recent business to leave the Village Shopping Centre was Choice Pharmacy.
After nearly four months without electricity at the Village Shopping Centre, only three tenants remain.
The most recent tenant to leave is the Local Choice Pharmacy, after operating at Village for just over six years prior to the power cuts.
The electricity issues are down to the centre owner, the Nova Property Group, owing R3.1m in electricity, rates and taxes to the City of Mbombela (CoM). The amount has been confirmed through a letter sent to some of the tenants by CoM, which was seen by Lowvelder.

The tenants who remain at the centre are operating off generators and are the Laundrohub, the SA Italian Barber and Keller Williams Lowveld.
The pharmacy’s Marisca Müller said it had been really difficult to continue running the pharmacy off a generator for almost four months. To keep operations running would not have been not sustainable.
She said they had been forced to move location due to the electricity being cut.

Müller said they had moved to De Hallen and will be fully operational at the new premises as of Friday, December 8, but said that the pharmacy at Village would be open until 15:00 on Thursday, December 7, for prescriptions only.
She added that the tenants who remain at Village urgently need the support of the community and pleaded with the public to support these businesses.
Meanwhile, the tenants at Courtside had not had power since September 19, however, the electricity there has since been switched back on. This is due to a reported agreement between SPAR Lowveld and the CoM.
Nova Property Group owns both the properties via their subsidiary companies, Village Mall Investments and Tarentaal Centre Investments.
