Church Unlimited’s youth gets a climbing wall
Church Unlimited's new climbing wall will be launched on Friday evenings during its weekly youth programme, where the youth will get a chance to try it out for themselves.
Always looking for wholesome activities for the Lowveld youth to immerse themselves in, Church Unlimited recently erected a modern climbing wall at its youth centre.
Speaking to Lowvelder about the new wall, Church Unlimited’s David Adams said there are a few members at the church who enjoy rock climbing and the opportunity to build a wall presented itself when it met with Sport Unplugged’s George Stainton, who is also the International Federation of Sport Climbing Africa Continental Sport Climbing president.
The wall will be launched for the youth to climb on Friday evenings during its weekly youth programme, when they will get a chance to try it out for themselves.

Nikki Reinhardt, the Mpumalanga female athlete who made it to the Africa Continental Climbing Championship last year and the 2018 South African National Champion, also helped build the wall.
Reinhardt said she will be using it and the rock wall that is currently at Mbombela Stadium for practice.
“I helped with setting it up and then testing it out. We started setting up the wall in late December last year.”

She said she enjoyed climbing because of the various challenges it presented. “Each route is a different puzzle to solve and some are more difficult than others.”
Stainton said they were hoping to also build more competition-style walls in Mbombela and Emgwenya.
“We have a small boulder cave in Mbombela Stadium and recently Church Unlimited, recognised what benefits sport climbing offers to our youth, so they built a wall in their Nelspruit church grounds, where their young flock can climb in a safe and controlled environment under their Youth Unlimited programme,” he said.
