Beloved Lowveld band has reunion at Bohemian Groove
Treasured Lowveld band No One’s Arc drew a sizable crowd when they played a reunion show at the Bohemian Groove Café in Kaapsehoop recently.
The Bohemian Groove Café was filled to the rafters with the fans and family of the well-loved Lowveld band, No One’s Arc, on Saturday, January 20.
The band came together onstage for the first time in seven years. Dylan Bolton, Lee Nicholls, Gagu and Robby Johns entertained the crowd with a superb performance that will surely be spoken about for years to come.
The only members who didn’t perform were Millicent and Bongani Mavundla, however, Bongani was present to support his fellow band-mates while they played.

Local band Soul Taxi opened the sunny afternoon show with a soulful blues acoustic set, which was followed by the upbeat funky notes of No One’s Arc.
The band was regulars at Blue Moon and had played at major music festivals such as the Subterranean Rhythm & Blues Experience in Mozambique and Up the Creek in Swellendam, Western Cape.
The band also played live on DStv’s former South African music channel, MK, as well as on 5FM’s Live@5. They shared the stage with Ali Campbell of UB40 when he performed at Mbombela Stadium in 2010.

Bolton, who now lives overseas, shared the story of how they had played to a crowd of 4 000 people at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden’s summer series concert on New Year’s Eve that same year. This show was a one-night gig only before Bolton returned overseas.
Many familiar Lowveld faces made sure they attended the show, singing, cheering and jumping along to the music.
