Six appear in Nelspruit District Court for alleged fraud scheme

The six accused are facing charges of fraud and money laundering. Five of them were granted bail by the Nelspruit District Court.

Six accused, Tshepo Mahlako (43) of TC Mahlako Attorneys, Bongani Tsobolo (35), Adelaide Manana (35), Duncan Mohale (33) and Thobile Nkosi (40), were arrested by the Hawks following complaints that they had defrauded 16 families of their estates’ money, totalling R15m.

The accused face charges of fraud, money laundering and contravention of Section 93, read with Section 32 of the Legal Practice Act 28 of 2014.

The six appeared in the Nelspruit District Court on May 6 for their bail applications. Mahlako and his law firm were granted R60 000 bail each. Mohale, Nkosi and Manana were granted R30 000 bail each.

Tsobolo will appear on May 10 for his formal bail application and will remain in custody until this is heard. The six accused will appear in the Specialised Commercial Crime Court on June 25.

Captain Dineo Sekgotodi, the Hawks’ provincial spokesperson, encourages members of the public who were robbed by any of the accused to come forward and report the matter.
