Zietta Janse van Rensburg fails to appear in Malelane court

This suspended attorney’s no-show in court could land her in further legal trouble.

Malalane attorney Zietta Janse van Rensburg was supposed to appear in the Malelane Periodical Court on a fraud charge yesterday, July 17, and now has a warrant of arrest hanging over her head.

She was allegedly testifying in a court case in Mookgophong (formerly Naboomspruit) at the time.

The magistrate asked whether the prosecutor had proof that she was indeed testifying elsewhere. The State Prosecutor informed the court that Janse van Rensburg was subpoenaed to appear and had told him that she would send proof of her other commitment, but that no email to that effect had been received when court proceedings started.

The prosecutor asked that a warrant of arrest be issued for Janse van Rensburg, which was granted, but will be held over until next Wednesday, July 24, when the fraud case continues.

The fraud charges stem from a settlement agreement between two parties; Janse van Rensburg represented one of the parties. The agreement was allegedly fraudulent.
