Burgersfort man sentenced for the murder of his ex-girlfriend
The convicted killed his ex-girlfriend on September 9, 2022.

The Limpopo High Court in Polokwane has on Tuesday, October 8 sentenced Moeti Frank Mnisi (49) to an effective 20 years imprisonment. The sentence comes after he was found guilty of the murder of his ex-girlfriend Conny Sekhukhune in September 2022 in Burgersfort .
Sekhukhune was 36-years-old at the time of her death. The court heard that on September 9, 2022, Mnisi brutally killed Sekhukhune at a rented place in the Burgersfort CBD and thereafter dumped her lifeless body along the bushes on the R555 near Thaba Moshate Casino.
According to the Limpopo SAPS spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, prior to his arrest, the police had conducted a search for the victim at Mnisi’s rented house, but she was not found.

“The SAPS did discover some bloodstains on the floor of the kitchen. The Provincial Forensic Crime Scene Management Unit was summoned to the scene to conduct forensic analysis and investigations.”
On September 14, 2022, at approximately 13:00, the police received a report from a member of the community about a body of a woman found in the bushes along the R555.
“The case was then assigned to Sergeant Mahlatse Montle attached to the Burgersfort Detectives unit who carried out a meticulous investigation.
Subsequent to further intensive investigations by the investigating officer, Mnisi was linked to the incident and arrested on September 15, 2022,” confirmed Ledwaba .

Mnisi was sentenced to 20 years for murder, two years for theft and three years for defeating the ends of justice. The three years for defeating the ends of justice, and the two years of theft was suspended on condition that the convicted was not convicted for similar offences.

Sekhukhune was a financial clerk in the Ga-Kgoshigadi Malepe Tribal office in Maakubu and resided in Ga-Mashishi Village in Burgersfort. Her family had reported her missing prior to her discovery, on September 10, 2022.
This publication learnt that the family suspected that the ex-boyfriend (Mnisi) might be involved in her disappearance, because there was a protection order issued against him before the couple separated.
The Limpopo SAPS commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has welcomed the conviction and sentencing and acknowledged the excellence investigation skills displayed by the investigating officer in the case and other role players who played part.
