Limpopo SAPS warns of recruitment scams

The SAPS reiterated that its recruitment processes are merit-based and do not require payment at any level.

Some Limpopo residents have recently been the victims of recruitment scams involving non-existent SAPS jobs.
This was confirmed by the Limpopo police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.

On October 11, she cautioned the public about ongoing recruitment scams that promise prospective job seekers employment opportunities in the SAPS in exchange for financial compensation.

She said anyone who has been a victim or has been approached by scammers soliciting money should contact the authorities.

“Jobs in the SAPS are not for sale and therefore cannot be bought. Community members should be aware that our recruitment and selection processes are transparent, merit-based and do not involve any payment at any level. As a result, we encourage all community members who have fallen victim to these scammers to come forward and report them to their local police station,” Hadebe said.

For correct recruitment information, the public is urged to visit the official SAPS website. They are also advised to report criminals on the Crime Stop number, 08600 10111, or to the nearest police station. Alternatively, they could use the My SAPS app. Police investigations are continuing.
