UPDATE:Man shot and hijacked on N4 near KaNyamazane turn-off

The victim was fishing at the Mgwenya River with his friend when a group of armed suspects ambushed them.

The Matsulu police are investigating a case of hijacking and attempted murder after a 43-year-old man was shot and and his VW Polo hijacked on the N4 near the KaNyamanzane turn-off on November 14.

According to a provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Donald Mdhluli, the police patrolling the area noticed a man who was trying to stop cars next to the road. They saw he was bleeding and stopped to check on him.

“He told the police he had been shot by a group of unknown suspects while he was fishing with his friend at the Mgwenya River. The suspects demanded his car keys and shot him on the leg. His friend managed to escape unharmed. He was then rushed to Nelspruit Mediclinic by the Emer-G-Med paramedics,” Mdhluli said.

He also confirmed the car has not yet been found and that the suspects are still at large. The police are calling anyone with information to call the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111 or to send information via the My SAPS app.
