UPDATE: N4 via Elands Valley and Schoemanskloof road reopened

TRAC reported that the N4 before the Waterval Boven tunnel in Emgwenya as well as the accident in Schoemanskloof have been cleared.

Both the N4 via Elands Valley and the Schoemanskloof road are open for traffic.

This following a closure at the Waterval Boven tunnel in Emgwenya by some residents protesting for water supply and against the poor state of some roads in the area. Meanwhile, a multivehicle accident between the Old Joe Monument and Patatanek in the Schoemanskloof earlier today, December 18, had caused the westbound lane to be clclosed.

According to Emer-G-Med’s Martin Jeffrey, two light motor vehicles, an SUV and a 4×4 bakkie crashed in the Schoemanskloof.

“All the patients sustained minor to moderate injuries and were transported to a private health facility by Emer-G-Med and another emergency medical service provider for further management of their injuries,” he said.

Both roads have been cleared.
