Three people shot in tavern in Pienaar

A group of men entered the tavern with the intent to commit a robbery.

Three people were wounded when they were shot during a business robbery at a tavern in Zwelisha in Pienaar on Sunday morning, February 2.

According to the provincial police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, an unknown group of men entered the tavern at about 01:00 and attempted to stage a robbery.

“During the robbery, the men began shooting randomly and three victims sustained gunshot wounds. The three victims were taken to a hospital for medical treatment. It is not yet clear whether the men managed to steal anything during the robbery, however, the investigation is ongoing,” she said.

Ndubane said no one has been arrested yet. The police urge anyone with information that may assist in arresting the gunmen to call the Crime Stop number on 08600 1011, or send information via the My SAPS app.
